Financial Education Video Game to Help Montana Students Score Financial Touchdowns

On Friday, May 9, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. in the Flathead High School in Kalispell, Kalispell native, Denver Broncos quarterback Brock Osweiler will join Monica J. Lindeen, Montana's Commissioner of Securities and Insurance and Montana State Auditor, and Visa Inc. in Big Sky Country to tackle head on the issue of financial literacy improvement among Montana teens. They will announce a statewide effort to improve the money management skills of high school and middle school students with the rollout of Financial Football, a free educational video game and classroom curriculum developed by Visa Inc. The game is being distributed by the Insurance Commissioner's office to every public middle school and high school in the Treasure State.

The centerpiece of Montana's financial education initiative with Visa, the NFL, and NFL PLAYERS, Financial Football helps students and adults tackle their financial futures. The launch of this multi-layer program will include an online component for all Montanans and DVDs with additional teaching resources, which will be provided to each school and various community organizations throughout the state. Details of the program will be announced at the launch.

Bronco's Quaterback BrockOsweiler joins Commissioner Lindeen and representatives from Visa for an event launching Financial Football statewide.

As part of this event Commissioner Lindeen and Osweiler will coach the students, divided into teams, in a high energy game of Financial Football projected onto a big screen at the front of the room.
