Safeguard Your Personal Information on Vacation
As travel season hits, find out what you can do to ensure your finances and identity are safe while you’re away from home.
Transcript
It’s the time of year when many people travel. Before going into complete vacation mode, make sure you’re protecting your personal information.
First, guard your itinerary. Announcing your plans on social networking sites is like sending an invitation to burglars. Second, slim down your wallet. Carry only what you’ll need. Not too much cash, two debit or credit cards, health and car insurance information, and identification should do the trick. Beware of skimming, where thieves capture your card information. Finally, protect your home. Hold your mail and suspend newspaper and other deliveries.
Bottom line: Take the same precautions with your personal information as usual to get the jump on a safe, relaxing vacation.
