Are You Leaving Tax Dollars on the Table?
With tax season upon us, it pays to know how you can ensure an easier process and secure the biggest refund you can.
Transcript
Over a billion dollars. That’s how much in income tax refunds typically goes unclaimed each year. Sometimes people in a rush to file their taxes overlook credits or deductions to which they’re entitled. Or they don’t bother filing a return because they don’t owe any taxes, but they are due a refund.
Make sure you’re ready long before the April 15th deadline. Get help. Many free options are also available to seniors, military families and low- and middle-income families. Check out the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program and the Tax Counseling for the Elderly Program at the IRS website: www.IRS.gov.
Bottom Line: As Ben Franklin said, “Nothing is certain except death and taxes.” But with a little advance preparation, you can make the tax part more bearable.
